Shanantina’s Sacha Inchi oil wins silver medal in AVPA 2020 competition

What is AVPA?

The AVPA, is a non-profit, non-governmental organization, it is essentially composed of producers and taste enthusiasts.
The aim of this association is to contribute to a better valorisation of agricultural productions and the recognition of producers of excellence.
These passionate producers are too often forgotten in the face of the imperatives of mass trade.
AVPA has managed to find a recognized place in the vegetable oil sector where for 17 years it has been running a gastronomic competition that has become the reference in the profession.

The AVPA “Oils of the World” competition

Every year the Agence pour la Valorisation des Produits Agricoles (AVPA) organises a gastronomic competition to reward exceptional oils.
This year it is the 18th edition of this international competition which took place to recognize exceptional producers.
This competition is reserved for vegetable oil producers (growers or mills) or their groups (cooperatives, Denominations of Origin) registered with the AVPA association.
The competition concerns more than 400 oils representing some twenty countries.
This year the president of the jury was Chef Jean-Pierre Cassagne, former president of the Toques Blanches, member of the Escoffier, member of the Culinary Academy, President of the Toques Blanches Internationales in Paris.

Shanantina winner Gourmet Silver monovarietal oils of seeds and nuts

Shanantina took part in the 18th AVPA 2020 International Contest in the category “Oils of the World”.
This category includes natural and flavoured vegetable oils other than olive oils. This 2020 edition counted 71 oils for 18 countries.
The jury was composed of several chefs and gastronomes.
The oils were judged on appearance, colour, transparency, fragrance, fluidity, taste and length in the mouth, balance and harmony of the oil.
The category of grain, seed and nut oils includes all virgin oils that can be made from any plant that can be cold-pressed to obtain edible oil, whether or not it is classified as an oilseed.
It is therefore a very competitive category because many vegetable oils are in competition even though they each have their own particular taste qualities.
We can thus find in this category in addition to Sacha Inchi, the oils of Hazelnut, Pumpkin Seed, Coconut, Avocado, Nut, Hemp Colza, Sesame, Almond, …

Shanantina is therefore proud and happy to be able to display her silver medal rewarding her work to obtain the best quality of Sacha Inchi oil possible.

Shanantina takes action with Tree Nation

In the face of the environmental challenges before us, there are many small actions that can be useful whether you are a company or an individual.

One of these is tree planting.

In this way, each of us, at our own level, can contribute to the restoration and maintenance of biodiversity and try to participate in the climatic balance!

Shanantina’s objective

Our goal is to participate in the Tree-Nation project in order to continue to do our part in the ecological responsibility that a company must have when using the earth’s natural resources.

Shanantina France wishes to develop within its structure social responsibility as an intrinsic value.

The cooperative structure and the commitment to fair trade are already marks of this responsibility that we wish to reinforce with this new action.

Indeed, planting trees means committing ourselves to regenerating ecosystems that have been damaged in certain regions of the world.
It also means making a gesture in the fight against climate change.

In addition, certain plantations, such as fruit tree species or medicinal plants, create jobs and support the local economy.

This is only the beginning of this partnership and depending on the expansion of our company, we will develop it to offset our CO2 emissions.

What is Tree Nation

Tree Nation presents itself as a citizen’s solution to climate change.

Tree-Nation brings together and coordinates reforestation efforts around the world in a single platform, enabling every citizen, company and planter to take action for the planet.
